Accessibility Statement

Our commitment to making ToothAid usable by everyone, and how to tell us when it isn't.

ToothAid Ltd is committed to making our online dental service usable by as many people as possible, including people with disabilities and people using assistive technology.

1. OUR COMMITMENT

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We treat accessibility as part of clinical safety: if a patient cannot read their consultation summary, understand their prescription, or join their appointment, that is a patient-safety issue, not just a design issue.

2. HOW ACCESSIBLE THIS WEBSITE IS

We have built the site so that you should be able to:

  • navigate the whole site, including booking and joining a consultation, using only a keyboard;
  • use the site with a screen reader such as VoiceOver, NVDA or TalkBack;
  • zoom in to 200% without text being cut off or overlapping;
  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using your browser or operating system settings;
  • read all content in plain, jargon-free English wherever clinical accuracy allows.

Every page has a "skip to content" link, a single main heading, visible keyboard focus indicators, labelled form fields with errors announced to assistive technology, and text alternatives for meaningful images.

3. KNOWN LIMITATIONS

We are honest about where we are not yet perfect:

  • Video consultations depend on your device's camera and microphone. Live captions are not currently available during a consultation. If you need communication support, please tell us before your appointment and we will arrange it.
  • Some documents uploaded by patients or partner practices (for example scanned letters) may not be readable by a screen reader, because we receive them as images. Ask us and we will provide the content in an accessible format.
  • Some third-party components, such as the card payment form, are provided by our payment processor and we do not fully control their markup.

4. IF YOU NEED CONTENT IN ANOTHER FORMAT

If you need any information from this website — including your clinical records, consultation summary or a prescription — in a different format such as large print, easy read, plain text or audio, please email info@toothaid.co. We will respond within 5 working days and provide the alternative format free of charge.

If you cannot use the website to book, contact us at info@toothaid.co and we will arrange an appointment for you another way.

5. REPORTING ACCESSIBILITY PROBLEMS

We want to hear about anything that does not work for you. Please email info@toothaid.co with the page address and a short description of the problem. We aim to acknowledge within 3 working days and to tell you what we will do and by when.

6. ENFORCEMENT

If you are not happy with how we respond to your accessibility complaint, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) at www.equalityadvisoryservice.com. Our duties under the Equality Act 2010 include making reasonable adjustments for disabled people.

7. HOW WE TEST

We test the site using automated accessibility checks, manual keyboard-only testing, and screen-reader testing on the core patient journeys: creating an account, using the symptom checker, booking and paying, joining a consultation, and reading a consultation summary.
